"Based on body size, chital,sambar and gaur were categorized as adults (24 months or  older), yearlings (12 to 24 months old), and young of the year (less than 12 months age). In these three species,the sex of adults and yearlings could also be determined based on antler presence in cervids, and from horn shape in gaur. Consequently, for chital, sambar and gaur, five agesex categories termed as adult male (AM), adult female (AF),yearling male (YRM), yearling female (YRF) and young (YG) were delineated."
